Cardboard Stick Horse

I was excited when I found out the secret ingredient for this rounds iron crafter... Cardboard Boxes.
Something I have plenty of!! :)

So, this is what I came up with...

A Cardboard Stick Horse!

Here's what I did & used:
Cardboard Boxes and a Cardboard Tube (like the kind that holds wrapping paper but a lot thicker)
Cut the tube to the height of the child planning to "ride" it. (I could make another one for my other child)

Cut the card board into pieces to make the shape of a horse's head (I just eye-balled it). The simpler the shape of the head... the better. AND it looks more modern with it's box form.
Make a hole to fit the tube and hot glue together.

Hot glue the remanding pieces to form the head...

Cover the head with scrapbook paper

Cover the tube with scrapbook paper as well.

Cover the bottom of the tube with a cardboard circle. Hot glue and cover with scrapbook paper.

Cut triangle-like ears out of cardboard (3 cuts make one)... Glue together and cover in scrapbook paper.

Hot glue ears to top of head

Cut 2 circles out of scrapbook paper and glue to the front to make the nose.

Mod Podge the whole thing

Before Mod Podge dries, add googly eyes

Make a mane with ribbon by wrapping it around your elbow and hand lengthwise.

Tie one side and cut the other... Glue tied side to the top of the head, between the ears.

Hot glue decorative ribbon to make the handle.... Then you're done!
My daughter loves it.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Audra, that is fantastic!!!

My daughter always loved horses when she was small (still does actually). Those that you buy at the store were always SOOO expensive! You could have a stable full of horses for the cost of one you buy! LOL And this is way cuter! :)
