Printable Handout For November Visiting Teaching Message-Divine Gift of Gratitude

Here's this month's handout I came up with for Visiting Teaching.
The talk I chose to use was from President Monson's conference talk, The Divine Gift of Gratitude. I thought it fit perfect with the season!

Here's what you do.

Cut out the Printout

Hole punch the corner of the Thanks-Giving card and the tops of the message circles. Thread twine through the holes.

Add a piece of ribbon before you tie the twine...Tie making a bow.

Then you're ready to giving it to your sisters :)

Car Booster Seat Re-Cover

I was so inspired by this Car Seat Re-Cover!
Laura from Laura Thoughts shows a great tutorial on just how to do this!

I was afraid to actually do this to my younger daughter's car seat, even though Laura's tutorial seemed simple enough. SO, I thought to help "boost" my confidence, I would re-cover my older daughter's "booster" seat (less to cover).
I'm happy to say, it was quick and easy to do, PLUS my oldest daughter and I LOVE it! (She picked the fabric)

Here's a quick "How-To"

Take seat cover off

Flip and place on wrong side of fabric

cut around leaving a 1 in. hang over.
Fold edge of fabric under and sew to edge of seat cover

Do the same to other side. Sew two lines in the middle to give the puff affect

Zig-zag bottom edge of seat cover (side with no straps)

Fold under and sew top (with the straps) of seat cover

Do the arm rest padding next by taking apart the original padding

Place pieces on fabric and cut (no hang over necessary)
Base edges

Sew back together

Then your done:
(every seat is different it seems, just use what you have as a template and you'll be good. Also, make sure you pay attention on how you took it apart SO you can put it back together again) :)
Here it is one more time

Thanks for stopping by!

Tooth Fairy Pillow

Aren't these too cute!
I saw these awesome Tooth Fairy Pillows at mmmcrafts and knew I had to make one... I LOVE the Ballerina Fairy One (and if I had a boy, I would totally make the Tooth Officer!). What's great is she has a free pattern you can download to your computer! Click here to find out more.

I took her idea and did one a little more simpler. It's not as cute as hers, with the details and all, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Here's mine:

Here's what I did:

First I made a quick tooth template (yes, on line paper--it's what I had on hand), traced my template on two pieces of 8.5x11 off-white felt sheets and then cut them out.

Drew a face on one of the tooth cut outs

Sewed on buttons for the eyes

and embroidered the mouth with black thread (I didn't have black floss on hand or else I would have used that).
(For the purpose of this tutorial, I'm going to call this cut out "the front tooth" and the other "the back tooth".)

So, on the front tooth, I sew scraped fabric (I ruffled mine) about an inch under the mouth making a skirt or tutu. I pined the fabric away from the edges of the tooth (I'll explain why in a bit).
Then, on the back tooth, I sewed a pocket.

I put the two tooth right sides together and sewed around leaving an opening (at least 2 in wide)... This is why I pined the skirt away from the edges earlier.

I flipped the tooth right-side out, stuff, hand stitch close, and added finial details such as fairy wings and a crown (made from metallic pipe cleaners)... I hand stitched these as well.

My daughter LOVES it! Now to make one for my other daughter ;)

Thanks for stopping by!
