Aren't these too cute!
I saw these awesome Tooth Fairy Pillows at mmmcrafts and knew I had to make one... I LOVE the Ballerina Fairy One (and if I had a boy, I would totally make the Tooth Officer!). What's great is she has a free pattern you can download to your computer! Click here to find out more.I took her idea and did one a little more simpler. It's not as cute as hers, with the details and all, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Here's mine:
Here's what I did:
First I made a quick tooth template (yes, on line paper--it's what I had on hand), traced my template on two pieces of 8.5x11 off-white felt sheets and then cut them out.
Drew a face on one of the tooth cut outs
and embroidered the mouth with black thread (I didn't have black floss on hand or else I would have used that).
(For the purpose of this tutorial, I'm going to call this cut out "the front tooth" and the other "the back tooth".)
So, on the front tooth, I sew scraped fabric (I ruffled mine) about an inch under the mouth making a skirt or tutu. I pined the fabric away from the edges of the tooth (I'll explain why in a bit).
Then, on the back tooth, I sewed a pocket.
I flipped the tooth right-side out, stuff, hand stitch close, and added finial details such as fairy wings and a crown (made from metallic pipe cleaners)... I hand stitched these as well.
My daughter LOVES it! Now to make one for my other daughter ;)

That is adorable! I love the tutu!
ReplyDeleteThese tooth fairy pillows are so adorable! I actually liked yours. It's simple and yet, very charming. Mothers like us make these wonderful crafts, so that our kids will still enjoy, even when they lost their tooth already.
ReplyDeleteI also love making a variety of crafts like you. I've made a cute tooth fairy box for my daughter, who was recently pulled her tooth at the Libertyville dentist office. Although it was such a painful experience for her, all of those melt away when I gave her this cute little box. That's where she keeps all of her lost teeth.
